Random Tuesday Thoughts - Anger, Orji, and so on...

There's lots of randomness over at The UnMom with Keely... go check it out :-)
  • My oldest will go to school where the admin's name is Angerer... and when it's pronounced it's just "anger".... so yeah - weird.

  • My oldest has a teacher named Mrs. Wright this year....

  • he ALSO has a teacher with the last name of Orji (yes - it's actually the guys name).... and well, we have ourselves a triple wammy don't we??

  • My 3yo is obsessed with his boy part... and we decided a very long time ago to use the medically correct terminology for his parts so he goes everywhere talking about his penis. He's 3.

  • Guess what??? I'm making my last car payment today. WOOT WOOT!! It'll be one car paid for, and one to go!! Just in time for braces, permits, and various other pre-teen/teenager stuff that's coming our way in the next couple of years! But YAY for the last car payment!!

  • Gotta put a plug in here for a giveaway for Peter Rabbit Puree's.... check out my link for that up at the top of the page if you're a parent of a tot.

  • I think my 3yo is going thru a growth spurt or something this past week he's been squirming alot at night in the bed and been on/off awake thru the night at times.

  • I've started becoming a late night TV junkie, I've always really enjoyed the late night re-runs of Seinfeld and Will&Grace.... but now I'm really into watching A&E and shows like Intervention and Paranormal State. Weird.... actually, Intervention is on right now.

  • Did I mention I got a snazzy new layout on my family blog? I'm diggin the look! Thanks to AcornGlue! She's rocked my blog layouts forever, and I just had to throw out a thanks to Sharnee!

  • School in 7 hours, I have to go to bed now, it's 1am for me... have to be up in time to get my kid to Mrs. Wright, the Orji and Angererrrrrr .....

Review & Giveaway - Peter Rabbit Organics

I recently received Peter Rabbit Organics fruit puree pouches to try out and review. I was pretty impressed with the idea of an all organic fruit puree with no added sugars and 100% fruit! Since my youngest is 3 now, he's a little too old for me to add this puree to a baby cereal, so I decided to play around with them!!

I made yogurt smoothies!!! Squirted some of this puree in with some Organic low-fat vanilla yogurt, added a little milk and out came a tasty treat for the little guy!! HE LOVED IT!!

By themselves, they're a hearty fruit puree that pack lots of flavor in a handy little pouch. They're super easy to open, and they're in a handy flexible pouch so small children can squeeze and squish out their fruit yumminess with out the worry of breaking or spilling anything!!
Overall I'd say that Peter Rabbit Organics has created an ideal little snack for busy young kids on the go. If you're interested in finding some to try out, you can check out THIS link for where to buy Peter Rabbit Organics near you!

Peter Rabbit Organics has offered to give one reader a sample of one of each of their flavor pouches.

Random Tuesday Thoughts - gotta get my groove back

My brain is fried for whatever reason, not sure how random this is actually gonna be!! Head over to The Unmom for lots of randomness...
  • I've been letting distractions, emotional ones, get the best of me. I've sat around thinking, crying, and feeling sad about certain things in this crazy life on and off for the past couple of days. I guess it proves I'm human, if I didn't care - it wouldn't affect me, right? I keep reminding myself that all that we endure, all that affects us, carves us out into the person we're meant to be... even though quite honestly some of that 'carving' sucks monkey toes.

  • Made Strawberry Bread night last night, and one of those 'distractions' took over my thinking process and I left out the sugar!! It's not much sugar, as you can see in the recipe HERE, but the bread is basically crappy without it!! Threw it away.

  • I'm having hot flashes that make Alaska look like a good place to live, I very well could be contributing to global warming. I earned my rights to genetics like the rest of the world and am following my mom in having the 'change' early. IT SUCKS. My doctor tells me that THIS PART, the hormonal shifts, the hot flashes that double as power surges, can and probably will last 5-10 years before the 'actual change' occurs.

  • Another food screw up, I left out the leftovers last night. That's a lot of "L's" in that sentence. Rambling... anyway - it's just another fried brain move of mine in the past 2 days.

  • On a good note, my 10 yo SEEMS excited about 6th grade and middle school. He can't wait to have a locker. Ha.

  • The grass needs mowing.

  • I left the watermelon in my trunk, since Sunday - GAWD!!!!!!

  • I am so out of it, that I'm just now sitting down to comment back on some of last weeks comments on my blogs. I'm just not with it yet people, after today I'll be back on track - hopefully!
  • Ooo. I just entered Living As Mom's contest for a $25 iTunes Gift Card Giveaway From Kijiji http://tinyurl.com/ptvtrm
  • Alright, my coffee is ready. If I could run it into my body with an IV today I would. I'm still stoked that I can drink my coffee and tell myself it could be HELPING ME somehow!!!

a little bassackwards, but I'll take it

I've been really feeling guilt for having that caffeine fix of mine. It's an addiction, there should be a 12-step program for it. Seriously. I'm SERIOUSLY addicted to coffee, I can NOT function in the morning without it. I walk around in a fog until that first sip crosses my lips and I tell you, it's an instant fix. My senses are alert, and awakened and I'm already feeling much better about being awake.

ADDICTION. I say that, and I realize there are alot of addictions out there much worse - but this one is mine, so I'm going on all that I know. I USED to smoke because I was stupid in my 20's and I was addicted to smoking. I've been a quitter for a little over 5 years now - quit cold turkey too! And I'm proud of that... but caffeine, I'm not sure if I can give it up, or even if I WANT too. I get told by my doctor to cut back on it,due to mitral valve prolapse (very common, and not at all a biggie for me) because caffeine creates more of the 'symptoms' of the MVP. So... I drink coffee in the morning (usually 2 cups) and then after dinner, I have 1 cup. Through the day I drink water... I was surprised, and giddy when I read an article in one of my magazines this week. The article:

  • 3-4 cups of coffee or tea could actually be improving your health. (yeah, I was like what the h*&%! are you serious!?!)
  • Research has shown that this little habit just might reduce your risk of Endometrial cancer???WHAT!!! SERIOUSLY??? It says: women who drank more than 4 cups of coffee or tea EACH DAY were 50% less likely to develop endometrial cancer.
  • Stroke!!! AGAIN, SERIOUSLY?? It says: those who had an average of 2 or 3 cups per day were 19% less likely to have a stroke.
  • Muscle Pain... Having 2-3 cups first made exercisers feel less sore afterward. ????

Wild huh??? I say the best part of waking up is coffee in my cup...well, that and toddler kisses on my face. Who could say no to that combo?

Wordless Wednesday - Butterfly

Random Tuesday Thoughts - crazy crap, literally, and figuratively

Click your way to lots of random over at The UnMom with Keely...

Wow - this past week provided me with lots of random, but I failed to write alot of it down and now I'm having brain cramps....
  • Speaking of brains... my friend who was told she had a TIA ended up not having one at all. So now, I can't call her Stroker Ace - and frankly, she IS disappointed in that. More importantly, the doctor called her diagnosis "strange, but not scary" and since her name starts with an S I've decided to call her Triple-S. (any wrestling fans, yes, I robbed Triple-X) Super Strange S___! Her neurologist (who IS by the way a cutie, and YES she snaked me a picture of him) we'll call him Dr. Hottie, told her that she had some sort of infection that caused her 'strange but not scary' symptoms. Not sure about you, but anything going wrong in my brain is SCARY..... I think she feels the same, but what can you do?? She's set to be monitored and re-scanned in a few months. I personally think she's counting down the days to see Dr. Hottie.

  • On to the other 'crap'... my 3yo, who has been the poster child for regularity since he was about 6 months old has suddenly gone all independent and in control on me with his poopin. I could set a clock by him in general, 8-9am a poop, and then 4-5pm a poop. WHY is poopin soooo important to moms?? I have no idea but it is. Anyway, I called the doctor because for whatever reason he started going 2-3 days in between poops. WHILE I'm on the phone with the doctor, he's dumpin. Making me look like a fool, but still - I was glad to know that I'm not the ONLY mom who calls about this with a 3-5 year old, and she said particularly BOYS. What's with the holding it? Who knows, but as long as he's not in pain, and he's going at some time or another, I guess it's ok. She reassured me, I just needed a little hand holding. And I'm not ashamed :-).

  • More crazy crap... wanna know what I did? Better yet, what I didn't do??? Recently my husband was laid off AGAIN, and then something major occurred in my family that really distracted me - and well, my entire household really. THEN the end of the month occurred and I was buried in work up to my eyeballs. SOMEHOW, for the first time since I've lived on my own - I failed to pay our power bill!!! And for no other reason then just being slack. We had the money right there for it!! So, not only was there one month due, but the new bill had came electronically and it was two months due. I do paperless billing, and I guess I managed to delete them both and assumed "I'll get around to it". I didn't get around to it, and today our power was turned off - well, for all of about 1 hour. And BOY I was embarrassed!!! I cried, I literally cried. I allowed some situations to distract me that much! I called them, paid it, and they were back out here within 10 minutes of my calling. They evidently frown upon missing a payment. I'm being sarcastic, of course. I'm ashamed, and embarrassed... but I can't beat myself up for it. It was fixed rather quickly and everything is fine now. I thought about going back to paper billing, but then I just decided to add it to my cozi.com calendar and that should get me back on track....that + try not to let trivial things distract me so much! (PS - how could they not call to collect on that, never even got a call - mystery)

  • Wanna know what else is random? We're going on a last minute end of summer beach trip this week!! YAY! Just decided on a whim and I'm excited to say that neither of the kiddo's know and we're going to try keep it that way until we're headed down the road. I'm sneaking and packing almost everything tonight and then we'll load it in the car tomorrow night and be all stealthy.

  • I'm pretty obsessed with A&E's "Obsessed" about people with OCD. That's what I'm watching as I write this post...

  • Don't forget to check out the review and giveaway for the Power Shelf.... you could get a free one :-).

Review & Giveaway - The Power Shelf - Contest Closed

When Lynn contacted me about reviewing the Power Shelf it couldn't have been at a better time!! I was frustrated constantly having to cleverly disguise my cord on my bar when company came over. When the cord would fall to the side of the bar the cat would grab at it. My toddler would grab the cord and yank the phone off of the bar from charging. This is all because the bar seems to be the best place for me to charge the phone, and the one spot I charge it at is right at the edge, and because I didn't have a Power Shelf I was having a cord catastrophe!! My husband also puts his iPhone on charge at the same outlet, so we can BOTH use the Power Shelf. Our phones fit side by side on the shelf!!

Installing the Power Shelf took me literally 2 minutes. I just took off our original outlet cover and slapped the Power Shelf in place and WHAMO - I had instant organization!! The shelf ledge has a curved area where you wrap your cord(s) around it for no clutter. This is what sealed the deal for me! No cords to move around, and that ROCKS my world!! There's a little anti-slip pad called a "power grip" that you can put on the ledge of the Power Shelf and it provides a secure surface for your phone/device. I could easily see the shelf working for other small handheld devices like an iPod, Nintendo DS or a PSP.

Overall, the Power Shelf is a handy product, and has become a kitchen accessory I will not do without! So guess what??? I asked Lynn about hosting a giveaway and she was gracious and said yes, and now you can enter to win one of your own right here!! All you have to do is leave me a comment telling me why the Power Shelf would benefit you!

Random Tuesday Thoughts - boys in closets, balls, and such

randomtuesday

Visit Keely for more randomness!

What's random in my life?? Pretty much everything...

  • How's this for random, I'm sitting in front of Julie (momspective) and we're both on laptops, that's pretty random. I brought mine over to send work emails, and she's over there blogging, commenting, and doing her thang!

  • Just a few minutes ago, all three of our kids (her two boys and my youngest) were hiding in the closet.... and when they came out soon after, mine said "I have two balls".... maybe I'm 12, but that was hilarious. They were not doing anything in the closet but looking for toys, but still - the idea was hilarious.

  • On my way out the door this morning, I decided on a whim to dig for something in the bottom of my purse, and let me just throw out a big thanks to my hubs for dropping an open bag of cookies in my purse... at the bottom of my bag was a cookie nightmare. I've stuck my hands in much worse, and at least this was something I could shake out of my bag.

  • I've had WAY too much caffeine today, and Julie and I just both agree'd on that. My brain is 100mph.

  • My birthday is tomorrow, and I'll be 29 again. HA. Seriously, I'm ok with my age, and I love where I am in my life.

  • Thanks for everyone who emailed and asked about my best friend, she is doing much better... and she's ok with me calling her Stroker Ace :). It's been confirmed that she had a TIA, and is supposed to go to the doctor today for more follow up and information.
I'm all out of random for now.... later people
